I have a strong tendency to rely on my left hand (hammer ons & pull offs) when it comes to playing fast passages. The example below is how I might approach a modal line over a V-IV-I-V progression in D Major. Normally, I just reach a compromise between phrasing, left hand comfort and right hand pick strokes.
