Vic’ing - A Hybrid Picking Technique

This is basically a hybrid picking technique borrowed from Victor Wooten’s slap technique. The video shows up close positioning from the fret hand and the picking hand. Enjoy!

Biography

I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. I first picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and quickly put it back down. I then started to get serious about the instrument again at the age of 15 when I discovered I could 'read' tablature for guitar (erhm), and of course later that same afternoon I asked my parents for guitar lessons. Later down the line I went on to Mary Washington College where I studied music theory, history, Classical and Jazz guitar and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in music. After college I taught private guitar lessons in various shops in the Fredericksburg, VA area. I have now been playing the guitar for over 15 years, my favorite styles include rock, funk, metal, shred, classical, and flamenco. I have released 1 EP with Lift (MD), 2 full length CD's with my industrial rock group, Kobayashi VA, a contribution to a Robert Plant Tribute Album, "Plant Waves, " and three solo instrumental CD's. I enjoy learning new playing styles and techniques, as every time you pick up your instrument should be a new learning experience.
