Lane a la Gambale

This is basically a different technique for approaching picking through pentatonic patterns using quintuplets. Stemming from Shawn Lane's video, “Power Solos,” I tried to facilitate this method by utilizing economy picking, a la Frank Gambale. Using the first position minor pentatonic scale start with your 4th or pinky finger and ascend without rolling any fingers. The fingering I use is as follows: 4th, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 1st, 4th, 3rd, 1st, 4th, 1st, 4th.

Always remember to start slowly and utilize a metronome for effectiveness. Good luck and happy practicing!
