SHANE GIBSON -
MR. STORK

We're thrilled to offer this CD release from CFH Instructionalist Shane Gibson! Ed. note - Don't miss Shane's first multi-format Chops from Hell instructional release "HELPS THE SHREDICINE GO DOWN...".

It begins with constant, unearthly 32nd note arpeggios at 165 bpm. This provides a background for the insanity that will commence for the next couple of minutes. Precision fire, palm-muted attacks synchronize with the drums at which sounds like (with the strange accents) a very complicated time signature, yet when thoroughly examined, is simply 4/4. Pinpoint accuracy, technical prowess, and speed is the focus of this brief introductory song.

"Wow, you should have a fire extinguisher next to your guitar when you play." (Derek Gable)

Yet blistering, poly-rhythmic, and technically precise are only a few ways to describe Shane Gibson’s artistry of the guitar. At times, his music is quite atmospheric, graceful, and highly diverse. “...This kid never ceases to amaze me” quotes Berklee College of Music instructor and world renowned guitarist Jon Finn.

Whether it be acoustic, electric, jazz, metal, folk, fusion, or any type of experimental styles of music, Shane Gibson does it all, and does so as if to make it his own. "Oh, my god!! That is the cleanest, fastest guitar playing I've heard in a long while. It's like Michaelangelo Batio, only cooler and faster." (Doug Stapp)

Shane’s musical journey begins at the age of thirteen after a few chords were taught by his father, and after meeting best friend and current Atlantic Records artist Jeremy Griffith. Jeremy quotes “He is quite simply all around the best guitarist I’ve ever known.” Jeremy’s musicianship would help shape the way Shane is today. “He is the reason I play guitar.” (Shane Gibson). At the age of 16, Shane won “Battle of the Bands” in East-Coast Florida. He would do so again the year after.

After high school, Shane attended Berklee College of Music on a “Berklee’s Best” guitarist and “Gary Burton’s Music Therapy” scholarship. “I can honestly say that Shane is one of the best student’s I have ever taught” (Joe Stump). While at Berklee, Shane performed in many ensembles, bands, concerts, and other studio projects. He also played for radio/commercial jingles. Through the countless musical projects, Shane also gigged with the Japanese/metal band Teiousekkai, who had a huge following around the Boston scene and a fair amount of radio play. They would later record a debut cd together, but because of musical differences, the members went there separate ways.

After graduating with a degree, Shane would continue recording music, which led to this, his latest and featured cd, Mr. Stork. “Excellent.....I’m looking forward to seeing you get out there and get the recognition you deserve!” (Ron Thal, aka, Bumblefoot).

As of now, he is an instructor at the music institute “Playground Music” in Fort Walton Beach, Florida with 58 students and counting. He continues to play, and is in a new band, "Defable" (http://www.defable.com), which finished it's 4 song EP this spring. "Your Guitarist is a maniac!" (Marty Friedman, as directed towards the lead singer).
